The Sociology curriculum provides students with the knowledge to allow them to observe and interpret the world in which they live. The study of Sociology nurtures thoughtful and motivated students, who through their awareness of society, are able to become responsible agents for change in the world.
Sociology develops students politically, socially, culturally and morally and fosters a tolerant and empathetic understanding of contemporary society.
The KS4 curriculum covers sociological approaches, social processes, structures and issues, families, education, crime and deviance, social stratification and research methods.
The sixth form Sociology curriculum builds on the KS4 curriculum with the study of education, methods in context, research methods as well as consolidating topics such as education, crime and deviance and introducing new learning such as beliefs in society.
