Remembrance 2020

Highsted Presents at ASGS Conference
Following on from the success of last year’s attendance at the ASGS (Association of State Girls’ Schools) Conference and the visit of Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu to Highsted in January 2020, Year 12 students were thrilled to be asked to not only participate but present their own workshop, Shake the Snow Globe, to other students from girls’ schools across the UK.

Heroes and Heroines – World Book Day
On Friday 6 March, Highsted celebrated World Book Day with staff and students honouring the world of comic book and graphic novel characters by wearing costumes for the day to raise money for charity.

Year 7 Celebration Tea Party
On Thursday 14 November Year 7 held its annual Tea Party, an event to celebrate the transition from primary to secondary school, as well as promoting and raising awareness of the important work done by the Wisdom Hospice charity.

Highsted Student Awarded First Prize by Oxford University
Year 13 student Rebecca Scholefield has been awarded First Prize by the judges of the German Classic Essay Writing Competition, run by All Souls College at Oxford University, for Sixth Form students.

Highsted Team Takes on Bomb Disposal
From October 2018 to May 2019, the Year 12 Engineering Team took on the Engineering Education Scheme task, set by their mentor partner company BAE Systems in Rochester, to look for ways to improve robotic arms used in bomb disposal robots.

Annabel's Charity Challenge
During the summer, Annabel Barker, Year 8, raised a fantastic £345.06 for Macmillan – a charity that supports and funds research for people living with cancer.

Funds for Demelza
In September, the Music Department received a communication from Demelza Hospice that we had raised a total of £928.19 for our Music for Maddie Open Mic Night event in July, bringing the total amount raised by Highsted Grammar School for the charity to £6,992.28 since 1999.

Class of 2017: A-level & GCSE results
Year 13 A-level Overview Once again we have achieved 100% A-level pass rate! Our students have worked extremely hard to produce these excellent results and we are very proud of all that they have achieved – they are a credit to themselves and the school.
